Blairsville Georgia
has more than just fabulous state parks and outdoor recreational opportunities - a number of special events are also held in the area each month of the year. Summer is a busy time for special programs and events in the Chattahoochee National Forest and the surrounding state parks, as well as the many festivals and fairs in the villages and communities of Union County. Fall is another beautiful time to come explore the mountains surrounding Blairsville, and while you enjoy cooler weather and autumn colors, you can also take in one of the many fall harvest festivals or arts and craft shows. The following is just a sample of the special events in the Blairsville region, starting in May and running through the end of the year.
Misty Mountain Model Railroad Tours – on going starting May 1 through December 29 in the town of Blairsville.
Friday Concert Series – ongoing May through October, Union County Courthouse in Blairsville.
Outdoor “Jazz by the Lake” Summer Music Festival – Lake Chatuge, usually held in June.
Blairsville Scottish Festival & Highland Games – usually held in June. Includes Clan tents, Highland games, competitions, pipe bands, Highland dancing, sheep herding and more.

Boat Parade at the Lake Nottely Marina in July
Fourth of July Celebrations – Fireworks from Meeks Park
Cool Mountain Festival at Brasstown Bald Mountain Visitors Center in July.
Butternut Creek Festival – usually held in July.
Hiawassee Festival of Arts – a juried fine arts & crafts festival held at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee.
Indian Summer Festival - Held in Suches, Georgia, usually held the first of October.
Annual Sorghum Festival in Blairsville – held in October, this festival includes a parade, car show, biscuit eatin’ contest, log sawing contest, mountain music and clogging, arts & crafts and lots of good food.
Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony – complete with the lighting of the Yule Log, a marshmallow roast, caroling and refreshments.
